2015 Congressional Briefing

The Social Security Administration (SSA) Philadelphia Regional Communications Office hosted a Congressional Briefing for staffers in our Region.  The goal of this year's briefing was to help new casework staffers gain a better understanding of how Social Security works and to provide valuable contact and resource information.  There were 17 new staffers in attendance representing Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia.  The day started with Regional Commissioner Terry Stradtman discussing Social Security’s current state of affairs in the Philadelphia Region.  Throughout the day, the staffers learned about the disability claims process and Medicare.  Staffers also had an opportunity to create their own my Social Security account.  Everyone in attendance indicated that they are are looking forward to returning for the next briefing in 2016!
