Background

This transmittal amends section I-2-6-1 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to update general instructions for conducting an administrative law judge (ALJ) hearing.

Explanation of Content and Changes

Chapter I-2-6-1 is amended as follows:

I-2-6-1 – We incorporated the citations in the text of the section for context. We removed unnecessary language and reorganized the information in the section. We removed language that was duplicative of information in other HALLEX sections and replaced the information with the appropriate HALLEX citations. Most significantly, we removed information about a waiver of the right to appear at an ALJ hearing, as the information was duplicative of information in HALLEX I-2-1-45 E.
